Fashion Fridays Bangin’ Betsey

Thanks for joining me for another Fashion Friday.  It’s my favorite day of the week for many reasons, but the fashion is #1 of course!  I’ve been trying to focus on some fabulous designers I love and today is no exception.

Betsey Johnson is colorful, fun, creative, trendy, and of course successful.  Betsey was born in 1942 in Connecticut.  She graduated from Syracuse University and interned at Mademoiselle Magazine.  Her fashion career “started when she entered and won the Mademoiselle Guest Editor Contest…she became part of the youthquake fashion movement and Andy Warhol’s underground scene.”

She opened a boutique in 1969 and went on to design costumes for Edie Sedgwick.  In 1978 she began another line and opened another boutique.  Her career took off from there.

Betsey at her high school prom.  How cute!

  3. I adore Betsey. she has such a grown up fun sort of style. I always smile when I see a photo of her, she seems to always have this huge smile on her face, like she’s in love with life.

    Great post,
