My Road To Fitness

Good morning.  I apologize I have been a little MIA on Twitter and responding to blog posts this week.  I rarely share anything personal on my blog, but have to tell you I am having a tough time this week.  I have decided to get into shape and start on a healthy diet plan.  The diet is simple, no biggie, I’ve done this before.  I will stick to it and I know I will have success.  The problem?  The workout.
I started with a personal trainer this week, and have to tell you I am so frustrated and upset with myself.  How on earth have I allowed myself to go my entire life without working out?  I have absolutely no muscle tone and at 35 years of age am at step 1.  I didn’t play sports in high school, and didn’t think you had to be in shape, just thin.  I was so wrong.  Now, I’m suffering the pain because of it.  
I know it will get better and easier, but just wanted to say thank you to all my blogger and Twitter friends.  You all are so supportive and I have to tell you you motivate me more than you know.  I will keep you posted on my progress, and thanks for letting me vent a bit.

  1. You can and will do this! In a few months you won’t know how to live without it. Trust me, I know. I haven’t worked out in over a month due to my busy work schedule and then getting sick on top of it. I will begin again this weekend, cardio tomorrow, a few weights, and abs. And YES I will be sore.

  2. no worries mamas! you will get into it and everything will be okay. workouts are super fun once you get started. getting started is always the hard part. after that you will be on the road to fitness :)

  3. Hi Kori,

    Hang in there! Even a few small changes can help with your workouts. Things like parking further from the doors, taking stairs instead of elevators and little workouts while watching your favorite shows. I started my 30 day challenges and have kept them going. It does help you get used to moving so when you are working on toning muscles, it just feels like an extension of your regular daily activites. For me the food is the hard part. I’m love sugar so much. I may never be able to completely cut that out. But I’ve been focused on trying to get at least 7 fruits and veggies a day. You can make things taste sweet without all the sugar. And I’ve discovered Agave Nectar. It’s a much healthier substitute for sugar. It also helps to have others follow you too, it keeps you motivated to stick with it!

  4. Don’t worry Kori..it’ll get better! I’ve been working with a trainer for some time now (maybe 6 months) and I’ve definitely seen results. I’ve had my off months where I gained weight/lost muscle (and then I go home and eat peanut butter for breakfast)…but I definitely have seen a change. Of course, I don’t necessarily need a trainer, but he teaches me knew things and puts me on a schedule so I know that I’ll get in at least one workout a week:)

  5. i was really into working out last spring, kinda fell out of it and then got injured in the fall. Now im super not into it as well :/

  6. Hang in there, the more you do it the better and easier it will get.
    I just started going to the gym and making an attempt at eating better recently as well. I would exercise here and there, go for walks occasionally, when i lived at home my mom had a treadmill that I would use maybe once a month, I used to do a few sports when i was younger, I did gymnastics through my younger years and basketball in high school but was never actually in shape after, i get winded just walking up steps. I really want to boost my stamina and be able to run on the treadmill longer than a few minutes.

    I plan on starting to blog more about my fitness that way I can keep track of what I am doing and see my progress.

  8. Hang in there doll! The first weeks or so are really really tough, but after you get into the swing of things and start seeing some results, it’ll all be worth it and you won’t even realize the effort that you are putting in!

  9. As a personal trainer I can tell you just keep at it! Consistency and proper diet will tone you up fast! I am sure you will be feeling great by spring/summer! Good luck!

  10. Good for you for going for it now! My hubs and I just started a diet for the first time and it made me realize just how poorly I had been treating my body. It is the only one we’ve got! Keep at it, girlfriend!

  11. Best of luck to you! The more you do something, the easier it gets. I took my first Bar Method class last week and it was painful! Each time now gets a bit better. :-)

  12. You can do it kori! Baby steps!! Your trainer will help and soon you’ll be hooked on working out its a process but hang in there! You can do it!

  13. I totally get it. Besides an occasional walk, I haven’t worked out since before I had babies. And my “baby” is now 3 1/2! I’m right there with you, trying to lose weight and most importantly, get healthy! You can do it!
