Have you heard? The Herald Examiner that has stayed vacant since 1989, when it closed down. The historic paper began in the early 1900's by William Randolph Hearst and at the time the building was commissioned by California's first registered woman architect, Julia Morgan. The building is full of history, but definitely needs a bit of work. The plan is to reopen the building by 2017 for commercial offices. There's even talks of a restaurant in the famed lobby.
