If you’ve read my blog or followed me on any of my social media sites, you know I’m obsessed with history and old architecture and buildings. For some reason when I see an old building I can’t help but wonder about who walked the halls, what type of drama or life was happening there, or who walked the streets before me. Have you ever felt like you were born in the wrong time? I’ve often wondered if I was meant to live in the old west or other time in history. Recently, I purchased an amazing coffee table book called The Gilded Age in New York, 1870-1910. It’s gorgeous and features fabulous photos of New York in the good old days.
So imagine my excitement when I stumbled across information on vanityfair.com sharing detailed about a photography exhibition featuring some of New York’s iconic buildings with all the background “clutter” and “noise” in them. Photographer Marc Yankus has a new exhibit titled “The Secret Life of Buildings.” I love the focus on the actual buildings by removing all the outside elements. It makes me want to return to New York again as soon as I can get there to see these beauties in person.
