I worked for Guess at the time the ads of Anna Nicole Smith started coming out. People couldn’t stop talking about them. Everyone wanted to know who the “Guess Girl” was. Anna really brought Guess to the forefront of fashion in her heyday. The black and white photos reminded us of Marilyn Monroe, and let’s face it she was absolutely gorgeous. That’s how I remember her.
Who knew what a train wreck her life would become. She always idolized Marilyn Monroe, so it seemed only fitting that Anna herself should have a sad, destructive like her idol. Lifetime is airing their made for t.v. movie tonight, “Anna Nicole.” Last week it was the Jodi Arias story, now this? Keep up the great work Lifetime! I make light of it, but I really find Anna Nicole’s life tragic and sad. It breaks my heart to think of all she went through, especially losing her son before her ultimate demise. Will you be watching tonight?
And here is actress Agnes Bruckner playing Anna Nicole:
Anna Nicole’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead is now 6 years old, and is modeling herself. Take a look at these tribute photos Guess recently did with the adorable little girl.

I watched the movie! I thought the actress chosen to play Anna Nicole was a fitting choice. I also grew up during the Anna Nicole/Guess time (being similar in age) and remember seeing her big billboards around LA. Being a MM fan too, the likenesses are remarkable. Although she was able to stay strong enough to be there for her son, the big tragedy is now not being there for her little girl 🙁

This post is so ironic, Kori. I rarely watch TV but happened to see in the news that this was on Lifetime tonight (missed the Jody Arias movie gladly). The Anna Nicole Smith story was riveting. I believe she was a very intelligent woman that just had too may enablers in her life. Maybe her son and her love for her son (which seemed incredible in both real life and the movie) kept her on the path of sobriety much longer than it should have. Very sad…I am surprised that the mixing of prescription drugs and alcohol didn’t kill her sooner (as seen in the movie).
Her daughter is just beautiful and her father is raising her very well. Just not sure if the Guess ads are paying tribute to Anna and her memory or exploiting her daughter’s legacy.
How do you feel after seeing the movie?
XO,
Jsne
