Today was the last day of school. I can’t believe how fast the 2013-2014 school year has flown by. It’s been a tough few weeks, with being sick, but I have to admit I’m kinda glad to have a break and get rejuvenated. So, that being said, there are always things I want to do and see each summer, but time seems to get away from me. I figured the best way to hold myself accountable and remember all I want to accomplish is to blog about them! That way not only do I have a list to refer back to, but you all can help me stay on track, right?
So here goes:
#1 Read my Bible everyday
This is my biggest goal for the summer. I plan to spend some personal time with the Lord every single day, preferably in the morning to get my day started.
#2 Exercise daily
Let’s be honest, I’m not the biggest fitness freak around, but I really want to make a bigger effort to get some daily exercise and a good sweat in.
#3 Learn something new daily
I’m a dork, and have signed up for some awesome classes through The Great Courses, and can’t wait to finally dive in. I also plan to read a ton of books this summer, especially on my new iPad Air.
#4 Volunteer or do something philanthropic
I’m not sure what exactly yet, but I’d like to help out somewhere needed. I’ve been thinking about doing something with the local historical organizations.
#5 Spend time catching up with friends and family
Sometimes throughout the year it’s hard to see the people you love as much as you’d like. Can’t wait to spend some more time with my mama especially.
#6 Get Organized
This is pretty broad, but I have a few things to get organized, like my blog swag room and my garage.
#7 Spend some time at the pool
This is usually my #1 goal, but since I never seem to forget about this one, it’s a bit farther down the list.
#8 Go on a vacation, or two!
I’m not sure where or when, but I’m hoping to get away this summer.
#9 Write
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I published my novel. In the past I’ve had many ask me when book #2 was coming and I always fibbed and said I was working on it. The truth is I needed a bit of a writing break, but hope to get back to it this year. I’m not sure whether it will be a short story, a book of short stories, a novel, poems, etc. but I will be writing something this summer.
#10 Work on getting some new ideas and curriculum together for next years students
Since my new iPad Air arrived, I’m amazed at all the fabulous apps and tools for teachers and can’t wait to incorporate them into my daily lessons for next year.
So there you have it! My big plans and ideas for the summer. What about you? Are you off for the summer too? If so, what are your plans? If not, are you at least taking a vacation? Like Fitzgerald said,
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
[…] then a little sun, but if you want to know what I plan to do with myself this summer, check out my summer to do list. I don’t wear leopard a lot during the summer, but I’m in love with these comfy harem […]
