Today is the last day of the guest series on love. I have really enjoyed having all my wonderful guest-bloggers. I really appreciate all of your contributions! It’s been a lot of fun learning about love through others eyes. Today, my friend Kimberly of Fashion Momma is our guest. If you haven’t found her yet, you need to go visit and see her wonderful blog. Not only is she sweet, but a true inspiration to me on my Weight Watchers journey. Hope you all have a great day. Here is her post:
Hello, Blonde Episodes readers! My name is Kimberly and I’m the writer behind the blog, Fashion Momma. Kori sweetly asked me to write a guest post for her Valentine’s feature about what Love means to me. It’s taken me a while to figure this out without writing a novel, so please excuse my long-windedness (it’s normal) and I hope you enjoy what I think about this four letter word.
Love is a blessing. It’s God’s gift to us, through the hands of other people, through the smiles of strangers, through giving, advice, and support. My (pre-marriage) immediate family includes my mom, dad, brother and myself. Team of four, nuclear family, arian children, whatever you want to call us- we stick together through everything. The day my daughter, Little S. was born, these people defined my entire life in just a few photos. My mom is my best friend. My dad knows everything. My brother has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met. That is love.
Love is marriage and the creation of a new family. Now, my immediate family consists of my husband, my daughter, and myself. It’s funny how life and love shift and move as we walk through this journey. Love is finding someone you want to share your every thought with, someone that you want to hug and kiss and cuddle, someone who understands when you need to be touched- and when you need to have space. Love is fitting perfectly into someone else’s arms, because that person is meant to hold you forever. Love is finding someone who doesn’t get mad when you don’t want to cook or when you forget to do a load of laundry. Love is difficult and emotional and imperfect. But it’s also perfect. Love is a two-way street with happy dances and arguements, date nights and nights in, sleeping entangled and sleeping a foot away from each other. Love is so worth it all.
Love is finding out you are pregnant and that God has decided that two people are worthy of being parents and bringing an angel into the world together. Love is laying eyes on your baby for the first time, staying awake day and night to nurture her, and falling even more deeply in love with your spouse and yourself because parenting is magical. Little S. is love. She is beautiful and sweet and compassionate, already. She hugs and kisses and snuggles. She says, “I love you. I’m sorry. I miss you. See you later, Mommy. Your hair is crazy.” Love is the embodiment of a miracle in a little human that was created out of so.much.love.
Love is best friends and soulmates, sisters and aunties. There are some people that float in and out of your life and then some dig a little piece of your heart out to stay forever and ever. My best friends and little sisters (not biological) have been there through thick in thin, moving cities, crying about boys, pregnancy ailments, and everything in between. These women have helped shape my life as it is today, and are all still a major part of my heart. Love is friendship that outlasts time and location.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you have love in your life and love in your heart!
xoxo,
Kimberly
