The past few months have been full of Michael Jackson for me. Dave and I went to see the Cirque du Soleil show, Michael Jackson One while we were in Vegas. It’s an immersive show full of dancing, singing, videos of MJ, and I loved every minute of it. Trust me, if you get the chance to go, GO! I literally cried when “Human Nature” came on. My reaction to the show was so emotional and I wondered why. I came home and realized that Michael Jackson was such a huge part of my childhood that I felt and still feel a major connection to anything MJ related. Is MJ my Elvis?
I came home and did a deep dive into anything MJ. YouTube videos, articles, books, whatever I could find. It made me sad to think I’d never be ever to see him live again or fully understand who he was. Is it possible that we feel like we “know” someone who was such a part of our young lives?
This past weekend I took my dad to see MJ The Musical in LA. Once again, it was nostalgic and so much fun. Once again it was a little sad. The audience loved it and everyone was dancing and singing in their seats. What he went through as an artist and a person had to have been so isolating. Anyone else share my feelings? Who is your Elvis?
