I watched yet another special on Titanic today and realized I haven’t written about my obsession with the ship. I have read everything there is on the ship, seen every film or documentary about it, and even did a senior paper in college on it. Ok, I’m a little obsessed.
Most of you know the tragedy of Titanic (if you don’t, you were probably living in a cave the past 100 years lol). I think the reason I am so interested in the ship is because of the lack of common sense involved. I can’t believe the Captain sent lifeboats that weren’t full off the side of the ship. I can’t believe there weren’t enough lifeboats for everyone because there wasn’t a regulation. I can’t believe 1st class were considered more important and got to live over 3rd class passengers. I can’t believe Captain Smith was in such a hurry to finish his final voyage that he disregarded the safety of his passengers and crew.
Such a sad, unnecessary tragedy. Here are some photos of the ship. I’m so sorry I am behind in my comments. I’m working on getting back on track friends!
I’m also obssased with the ship.i dont know but every time it makes me more interrested .i think that if time travel can possible i would like to be on it and in the life boats too for sure.safety firsty.lol
So true. Such an unnecessary tragedy. I knew a little about it. After I saw James Cameron’s film I did a little more research. I just couldn’t believe they would lock the 3rd class passengers in so 1st class could leave first!!! Yikes! That got my Irish blood boiling!

I am a little obsessed about the Titanic too! I also did a post about it, last April 14th!
I think it was the combination of opulence, the rich and famous, shock, and senseless tragedy that had captured our interest all these years. Wow, almost 100 years ago. And we’ve been captivated ever since.
I’ve seen the first half of the Cameron movie probably 20 times…the second half only once. I can’t watch it again. Too much sorrow, too much senselessness…deaths and suffering that could so easily have been prevented.
I also have an obsession with the Titanic! I saw the touring museum exhibit when I was younger and loved that I was looking at things taken from the Titanic’s resting place. I also saw in on Broadway when it was on a couple of years. Great post!
Hi Kori,
Great post! I love the stories of The Titanic. Before the movie was out, my dad took me the exhibit in Memphis to see all the artifacts. That was really something to see, quite special. Hope you are having a great week? Have you tried to market your “best selling novel?!”
Hugs,
Nicolette
What a fascinating (and tragic) story, I never tire of hearing about it. Love the actual photos, what opulence!
The Titanic hit the iceberg just before midnight on April 14, 1912 and 38 years later, a few hours before midnight on April 14, 1950, I was born. Coincidence? Hmmmmm. When I went to see the movie with my husband, he very kindly sat there with me for several minutes after it was over so I could finish sobbing. When I did, I looked up and there were SEVERAL other women sobbing away, with their male companions looking just as helpless as my husband did!
i know its so terrible how they were not prepared. poor leo and kate haha jk. sucks though how so many ppl had to die.

Thanks for an interesting post. I was always very interested in this subject too…whenever it came up in school I would just hang on every word the teacher said. It was an unnecessary tragedy, but I reckon it has set new standards that have saved even more lives 🙂 Silver lining?? lol
Have a great week lil missy!

I share your interest for sure. My goal is to visit the Titanic exhibit out in Halifax when I visit family out there. Seems to me there is a graveyard of Titanic victims there too. So sad.
It was such a tragedy wasn’t it. I can’t believe they didn’t put enough lifeboats on the ship, the film always make me cry so much. xx
Such an elegant ship. The rich were so pampered yet in the belly of the ship were the workers & the poorer families. Such class seperation. But it isn’t any different today! When the ship was going down all was equal!!
Love,
Marilyn

Ahhh I too have been fascinated by the Titanic. So senseless and the arrogance was unbelievable!
Thanks for the post!
Yet another thing we have in common, I too am obsessed with the Titanic. Isn’t the architecture and materials used on the ship just so fabulous. I loved seeing the photos of some of the items recovered from the sea floor in the many documentaries I’ve seen.
So sad that proper preparations were not in place and so many people lost their lives.
Love and hugs,
Karyn
I too am completely obsessed with Titanic. I’ve seen/read everything I could get my hands on. I also once went to an exhibition of relics and an actual piece of the hull, it was amazing. Good to see someone else shares my interest!
Im really obsessed with Titanic too!
I love the movie, and I def think that there was so much of a lack of common sense as well..
Great post, Kori!
I am also really into the Titanic, and boats in general. When I was a kid I built a model of the Titanic, which was somehow ‘lost at sea’ in the space between then and now…would be cool to still have it.
Of course, the James Cameron movie was killer…the only ‘complaint’ I would have, being an engineer, is that they should have spent the first 5-10 minutes showing how it was built in the shipyards, the ‘specs’ of it, how big, powerful, etc… but the movie was what, 3 hours to begin with anyway, so had to cut where they could…
There are other, older movies about the Titanic, I think one is ‘A Night to Remember’…could be wrong, tho… probably some good movies, but most likely not the level of Cameron’s – one of the few spots where the ‘remake’ surpasses the ‘original’.
Hey Kori! I think a lot of us are obsessed with the Titanic. And people of all ages too, even my 11 year old bought a book on it.
Everytime there is something on tv about it, we watch- it’s so intriguing I guess. Hope you are doing well hun, deb
I agree. The Titanic event is a very interesting historical event to research. It seems like the crew was so ill-prepared. I would love to go a Titanic exhibit that has artifacts recovered from the wreck.
It must have been such a fantastic ship to be on. I too cannot get over how much of a tragedy this truly is. The scenes in the movie where we see the lifeboats half full is just disgraceful. Those poor people. R.I.P.
