It’s Marilyn’s birthday…I started my blog back in 2009 when blogging was the “new, in thing.” Blogging created influencers and blogs were the way to interact with and meet other influencers. I was invited to and attended many blogger meetups, made friends through blogging, traveled to events like visiting sets of happening shows at the time (Pretty Little Liars), and was sent a lot of gifts from various companies looking to get their name out. We would do a post on the product or event, similar to how things are done now on Instagram. It was a lot of fun and I’m blessed to have met so many amazing people along the way.
People always ask not only how I got into blogging, but why my blog is named “Blonde Episodes.” Originally, I was inspired by Marilyn Monroe. I’ve always loved vintage places, people, and products. I collect vintage beauty products and have a cabinet full. I also collect old head vases and many other things I find in antique stores. I developed an appreciation for old Hollywood and vintage films back in college. I took an analysis of film class and fell in love with films like “Double Indemnity,” and “Dark Passage.” I’d always been fascinated by the life that Marilyn Monroe lived. The conspiracy theories surrounding her death have always intrigued me, but more than that, I often found her life tragic. She always seemed so misunderstood and appeared to be looking for love she couldn’t find. Marilyn was a blonde of course, and I felt like being influenced by all things vintage and her life, I would write about my “episodes.” This included fashion, travel, books I’ve read, films, tv shows, music, etc. Over the years, the blog has changed depending upon my style and what I’m experiencing at various times of my life. For those of you who’ve been loyal followers since the beginning, I appreciate your support more than you know. For those of you who are new…welcome and I hope you like what you read! Check out some of the covers Marilyn appeared on in Time Magazine. Let me know what you think! Kori
